Genetic Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Genetic Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina (GENuBiH) is a nongovernmental society registered at the state level. It assembles eminent geneticists also establishing collaboration with Bosnian-Herzegovinian experts abroad. The Association was founded in February of 2011 with the idea of joined activities of professionals towards development, improvement and popularization of all aspects of genetics and related scientific fields through research, conservation and protection of native species and improving public awareness. By organizing scientific and professional meetings, the Association seeks to promote knowledge and application of novel experiences and with educational activities aiming to inform the scientific community but also broader public about achievements in genetics. With the recognition of growing toxicological problems, in 2020 the Section for toxicology and mutagenesis has been established within the Association. The public engagement activities are mainly accomplished by the electronic publication of the Bulletin of the Association of Geneticists in Bosnia and Herzegovina firstly published in 2017. It is a professional publication that informs about current events in the field of genetics and related scientific disciplines, promotes genetics as a science and connects geneticists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
